Costa Blanca & Alicante

Alicante is one of the oldest cities in Spain, with archaeological finds of settlements dating back to 300 BC. In 1490 Alicante got its name as a city. Alicante is a small metropolis, with a compact center which you easily can explore on foot or by bike.

Alicante’s economy is mainly based on tourism and real estate. In addition large quantities of olive oil, fruit and vegetables are also exported from the province.

The city of Alicante is the provincial capital of the province of the same name, Alicante. The province is part of the Valencia region. Often you can see the area described as “Alicante, Communitat Valenciana”.

Alicante International Airport is only 11-12 kilometers outside the city center. Torrevieja is about 40 kilometers from the airport. The distance to Benidorm is 60 km. In other words, it is relatively short distances no matter where in the province you choose to buy a property.

The Costa Blanca literally meaning “White Coast” is over 200 kilometres (120 mi) of Mediterranean coastline in the Alicante province. It extends from the town of Dénia in the north to Pilar de la Horadada in the south. A large part consists of the sandy beaches that have given the coast its name.

The Costa Blanca is world famous for its beautiful beaches, the local cuisine and for one of the healthiest climates in the world (according to the World Health Organisation).
